Since we were young, our parents have told us to go to school, get good grades, go to college, get a degree, get a good job and at age 65 we will retire and enjoy life. We have been conditioned to follow this idea for centuries, but the fact is, not everyone gets to enjoy life after 65yrs old. During payday at your job, you already know where the money will go after all the taxes. Most of us will pay our bills, rents, credit cards, food, drinks, etc. and after paying all these, all you have left are another bills to pay and you wait for your next paycheck again. In this chart by Robert Kiyosaki it shows you how money is earned in four basic ways.
This idea of living paycheck to paycheck doesn't really amuse me. I don't wanna live my life working by the clock, take the same route everyday, meet the same people everyday, and gets the same paycheck everyday. What happens if i get sick? if your lucky, you might get paid, but most workers won't get paid. No matter what your JOB is, if you don't show up to work, you wont get paid (most of the time).
When I heard this quote by Jim Rohn "Wages make you a living, which is fine, Profits make you a fortune, which is super fine." it hit me. I begun to notice that you don't really need to work for somebody or a corporation to earn an income. Most of the businessman and/or entrepreneurs that I know and met personally didn't really used what they learned in college and some of them never even made it to college. No matter what degree they have, all they have in common is the idea that profits are better than wages. Making profits from goods and services is very lucrative, If you think about it. If you sell a million dollar house in one day and make a $100,000 profit from it, it will pretty much cover all your basic expenses throughout your whole year plus trips and vacations. At work, to make more money, you have to work more hours, so you are basically trading time for money. To make profits, you have to trade your time, money and effort to earn income and time freedom. How about passive income? Did you learn about passive income in school so far? Passive income is money you make whether your awake or not dead or alive, just like Elvis Presley. Until now, even though Elvis is now dead, he still earning royalties from the work he has done during his music career.
The idea of doing work once and getting paid for the rest of your life has amused me. There are a lot of ways to earn passive income, especially here in America. Few examples are, owning rental properties. owning a business, owning a franchise, network marketing, owning a patent, mutual funds , CD's, Internet Incomes and many more. Out of all of these options, not single one of them required having a college degree. All you needed to accomplish all of these is burning desire and willingness (what your willing to give up) to do it. I learned this from people who actually made it happen and not from people who just says it and never actually done it. I'd like to end this post with one question, "Which would you prefer, Profit or Wages?"
