Owners of Mr Taxi App, an internet enabled transport scheme, have disowned a popular Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, dismissing his claim of ownership of the company.
Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke according to reports last week was set to launch his taxi company that will begin operations in the South-Eastern states of Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi respectively, has been disgraced by owner of the platform.
Chief Operating Officer of the company, Mr Austin Nnaemeka who spoke at a press conference before the launch of the company in Awka, Anambra State on Friday night, said Jim Iyke was only contracted as a brand ambassador of the company but was relieved of his job after he started claiming ownership of the company.
“Jim Iyke is my friend, and I brought him in as a brand ambassador of the company, just like Rachael Okoli and other celebrities here but he started asking questions that were out of his scope.
“He later started looking for a way to sway us into making him a shareholder, and then started parading himself as the owner of the company. He was warned once, and again, making it two times before we relieved him of his job.
“I am using the opportunity of this press conference to state emphatically that Mr Jim Iyke is not the owner of Mr Taxi and has no contribution in the company. That is what I want to tell you today” he said.
I was had reported that Jim Iyke who is the Chief Executive Officer of the company named MR.TAXI, is also planning expansion to the South-South region.
He wrote: “On 5th October, we’re proud to launch a platform that provides chauffeur services for the people of South East, Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi states.
“This is just the beginning. Our goal is to expand the scope of operation to the South South in a matter of a few months after takeoff.”
It would be recalled that in August, Jim Iyke was arrested at the local wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Police airport for slapping an employee of Dana Air. Trouble started when the actor arrived late for his 12:15p.m. Abuja flight and the airline’s security personnel tried to help him meet up with the flight, but not before searching him.
Jim Iyke According to eyewitnesses, ‘’Iyke refused to be searched and pushed the man away, but the man insisted that he must be searched before boarding. The man’s insistence angered Iyke, who slapped the man for wasting his time.” Iyke was later arrested by officers from the Airport Police Command.
Confirming the incident, Dana Air’s Media and Communications Manager, Kingsley Ezenwa, said Iyke was, however, released after he apologised to the airline employee. Ezenwa added that the actor eventually missed the flight, which was still on ground when the incident happened. The Public Relations Officer, Airport Command, Deputy Superintendent Alabi Joseph, also confirmed the incident, saying Iyke was released after he tendered an apology.
